Bahama Mama
Operated by Balearia
This ship is no longer operated by Balearia and is now with Balearia.
Sitting at an impressive length of 154 metres and with a beam of 24 metres, the Bahama Mama is an impressive vessel that can carry up to 1000 passengers at a time as well as up to 126 vehicles. The mammoth size of the ship doesn't hinder its speed - the boat is capable of travelling at a speed of 23 knots - making it one of the most convenient ways to travel around southern Europe.
A regular lounge and a superior lounge are available for seating; the regular lounge offers cosy seating in rows of armchairs, whilst the Superior Lounge affords much more spacious seating in large, comfortable armchairs. The cabins are fairly simplistic, but can hold from 2-4 people, alongside a table and chairs for relaxing with friends and family.
A cafeteria is on board serving fresh food across a range of different cuisines, so there will be something for every passenger. A bar is also onboard serving a variety of sweet and savoury snacks, and for those who like to dine in style, eat at the delicious on board restaurant.
In the summer time when the sun shines down on the upper deck, the perfect way to keep yourself cool is the outdoor swimming pool. Do a couple of lengths or simply bask in the rays of the sunshine, whilst staying refreshed with the outdoor bar. As you sip on your chilled beverage, keep up to date with world events by browsing the web on your phone or computer device.
The boat is wheelchair accessible and friendly staff are on hand to assist with any requirements.
Please Note: Whilst we have taken great care in making our Bahama Mama guide as accurate as possible, onboard facilities, services and entertainment may vary depending on the date and time of year that you travel, facilities mentioned may change without notification and ferry companies reserve the right to operate vessels other than those mentioned at time of booking without prior notification.

"2 hours after arriving"
The online booking was fast & easy. I was a foot passenger & the experience could be significantly.improved on arrival at the port. The wañk from grand taxi dropoff was scary -but the main problem was the woeful communication. The ferry was significantly delayed but there were no disppay untis to give us any.indication. it was nearly midnight before we left, nearly 3 hours late. That was a hige issue for me so I will think agsin before I travel this route t
"Nice trip"
The trip from Ibiza to Dénia 8 of September 2019 was good and nice. Specially since your employees working/playing with children made our son enjoyed the trip even more then we did.
"Very bad"
Ship departed to late. During the trip the whole ship was shaking and couldn’t sleep!
"Not good enough"
Very old basic vessel, not to be recommended. Sailed on time but arrived 59min too late at destination... Don’t use Balearia.
"Podrïa mejorar"
Lo que más me gusto fue el camarote y la amabilidad del personal. Lo que menos el ruido de los otros baños al usar el inodoro, el aire acondicionado que no se puede bajar y la manera de avisar por la mañana. Por qué no usan los altavoces de los camarotes? En otros barcos es lo normal.
"Ferry to mallorca"
Booked for a 16:00 departure and a 3.5 hour journey. Arrived at 15:00 to be told revised departure 17:00 and 4.5 hour journey!! Taxi in Palma had to be revised. Why does the company not contact by email to all passengers??
"Ferry worth it!"
I chose to sail with Baleria from Ibiza to Barcelona. The ship was very well maintained. Staff was friendly and helpful. The cafeteria was amazing. The chef prepared a wonderful Vegetarian meal for me! The best I have had in Spain! I am glad I chose Bakeria!
"Zero communication"
This company don’t tell you in advance that they have completely cancelled your ferry to Ibiza. Not a good first experience tbh!!! Arrived at the port to check in to be told oh sorry we sent you a text on the 18th of June!!!! Ermmm no you didn’t!! Absolutely fuming at the lack of compassion from the checking staff. We had booked all of our events around this ferry arriving at the correct time, I mean why wouldn’t you??? We only had 2 days and we lost money on one of those events as we lost the table without refund. A company that sends a random text to tell you such an important piece of information needs to review its policies. I hope they can refund us for our hassle we were really upset and if we had let it they would have spoiled our few days in Ibiza 🥵🥵🥵
"ibiza"
Very organized. Very clean. Staff helpful. Free wifi. All good.
"Nice trip "
I travelled on the Bahama Mama from Denia to Ibiza, it’s a comfortable ferry but make sure you book a seat as otherwise you’ll be sat in the bar. Upstairs from the main bar is an outside bar which was full of energy and people enjoying themselves but they were heading to Ibiza after all!! We arrived about 20 mins late into Ibiza but it didn’t make much difference to my plans, the Ibiza port bus waits for the ferry and for €2.50 will take you down to Ibiza town. It’s worth it and is much cheaper than a taxi.
"Not totally satisfactory "
The ferry left Denia at 8.00 am, check in at 7.00. Very long queue for a cup of coffee and rather poor sandwich. Then, the restaurant only opens at 12.30-after the ferry leaves it’s stop in Ibiza- and the food was pretty inedible. Toilets not great-no locks on the cubicle doors. Otherwise, the Neptune seating was fine and everything ran smoothly.
"We went with our bicycles"
Convenient and good experience
"Beautiful crossing. Confusing boarding "
Great boat beautiful port lovely crossing. Our Spanish is poor and so we didn’t wholly understood that they unload all passengers apart from driver, from the cars and pass them through security and then walk them on. Found ourselves going through security with no passports which remained in the car with my husband! Found nothing about this procedure online - heads-up!
"A perfect trip"
From booking in to leaving the boat it worked just like clockwork, thank you
"Lovely ferry - but Traumatic for the dog!"
Everything was as was written - although the ferry terminal is not marked on the boarding passes/vouchers, which would have been helpful as there are a number of Balearia terminals at Barcelona. Only regret is that our poor dog spent a night in kennels in the top deck with a number of stressed barking dogs and cold condensation coming down. Wish they’d make an exception about this.
"Beautiful experience"
It was enjoyable , we had breakfast , slept , enjoyed the sea , all the family members were amusing and having quite a good time !
"Denia - Ibiza"
Very good all round, on time, very fast ship, good facilities. Don't book to early, prices drop nearer the time of sailing.
"Efficient and does the job"
Efficient service, ran on time and accommodation on board is comfortable, if rather dated. It was fine for a two-hour crossing but for longer journeys I would expect better facilities.
"Easier and more relaxed than flying"
Comfortable with great amenities. Smooth trip
"Excellent service"
Excellent service
"Worth the money spent"
Very comfortable journey.
"Comfortable Ferry"
We travelled in January and the ship was not full by any means. It was very relaxing - the big downside is people phones, playing music, watching videos or playing games at far too high a volume and without earphones. If there was a quiet lounge, we missed it.
"Use them"
Easy to use and efficient
"Chaos"
Couldn't hear anything over the tannoy and was puzzled about the reason why we were so late , finally realised that the weather was too rough to dock and had to be diverted to Valencia. Disembarking was thorough chaos .
