"Valencia to Palma de Mallorca"
Slept in the cafeteria as more comfortable than the seats in Sirena. Small ferry, only a tiny deck available for smoking.
"Great staff, good service"
Really really fantastic. I would choose this company to travel anywhere I could. So helpful.
"Convenient but expensive route to Mallorca by car"
Very poorly signposted ferry terminal in Valencia, and initial contact with a less than helpful and aggressive person who was supposed to be organising the car waiting queue on the quayside was unpleasant. Balearia's own staff were absolutely super, friendly, helpful and very welcoming. We were shown to our cabin and our case was carried for us from the reception area onboard. Comfortable, quiet cabin for our night crossing, very reasonable bar prices. Prompt departure and arrival on-time. Less impressed with the day return as we paid for club lounge recliner seats to get some rest before a long drive, only to find that the small lounge was totally dominated by a huge television which was turned on by a crew member at high volume on departure for the entire seven and a half hour voyage, playing loud 'action movies'. Total waste of the cost of the seats as any sort of rest or relaxation was impossible, and we quite clearly weren't the only people who thought that.
"Overnight trip"
We didn’t book a cabin as booked it all very last minute. This meant that we were in the cafeteria area. Better to try and grab the sofa area as seats have a low back and if you’re tall, it could be an uncomfortable night. Food was of a very good standard in the cafeteria.
"Top trip"
We decided to take the slow boat from Mallorca to Valencia (7hrs) and it was a top trip. We were travelling with two young children and they loved the space you get on a ferry. There was an excellent 'kids club' onboard so we didn't see our eldest for most of the trip! We'd taken seats in the lounge where films were shown for most of the crossing. All the staff onboard were very friendly and efficient, if you've got the time I can t recommend it enough!
"Excellent"
We were very happy with the trip from Palma to Valencia in June ...everything went very well indeed and the staff were excellent...well done!
"Great Sailing"
Everything concerning booking and traveling went realy smoothly and was very enjoyable.Ended up not using our booked seats but spent time enjoying bar and restaurant and relaxing sun bathing on the top deck. The time just flew, would definitely use your company again A star.
"Valencia-Palma"
This voyage reminded me of Dover to Calais in the 1960s, when most of the vehicles were lorries and the people lorry drivers, with a few cars. In my opinion the catering was simple and poor quality, the bar drinks were low quality. The air conditioning could not be altered, because it apparently was controlled somewhere in Madrid! Not suitable for tourists travelling on the night ferry. I would recommend it to lorry drivers.
"Little things mean a lot"
The Port of Palma is very extensive and with a lot of traffic around it. When you eventually find the Balearia Booking office area, you can't find the building because they haven't put a sign on the building! Also there is very limited parking in the area. After you get your Booking forms, you are then directed to a very circuitous route around the town to the actual embarkation quay. Again, I saw no indication for the Quay number. The boat was not as old as the old tub on the outward journey, but still old. I'd booked a cabin which was clean & tidy but expensive. The food was totally forgettable. The outbound journey was poor quality. I'd booked "First class seating....it wasn't". The inbound journey was better, but I would certainly recommend booking a cabin and bringing your own food .
"Meditteranean crossing by ferry"
It was an absolutely glorious day! I lounge about sunbathing and watching the glittering peaks of the waves. Refreshments were a bit expensive but the sea! I would never have know how calm it was out there if I had not seen it. Wonderful. Would recommend it strongly as a relaxing day and way of travelling.
"Very Good!"
I have nothing to complain.
"valutation"
excellent
"Good travel experience"
Overall it was a good experience...I and my wife both enjoyed the travel by ship. Cleanliness needs to be improved on ships.
"Review of my out and return trip, Barcelona - Palma"
I have previously travelled this route with Acciona and Transmediterrana ( we own a home in Majorca) and for a change and on price went for Balearia. My first point to Direct Ferries is, please produce a map of the Barcelona port and highlight the point where our ferry is leaving from. We headed for the queue leading to a Balearia ship and found it was leaving for Ibiza. We were told our ship was leaving a further 4kms away. We had great difficulty finding it and had to ask twice more before arriving at the correct place. This level of stress is not welcome with less than two hours before sailing after TWELVE hours driving from Calais. I suggest any map should include the entry roads into Barcelona and most importantly advise your customers to leave at exit 21 on the duel carriageway that runs along the sea route. I do not recall on your website whether it was clear or not as to what my ticket supplied me. As it was we did not have reclining seats and were expected to sleep overnight on cafeteria chairs. I was able to negotiate four seats about half an hour into the journey but what I am asking for is greater clarity as to what we are actually paying for. I have not looked over your website since my return to check all my facts but will do depending on your reply. Regards Peter Edwards
"fabulous"
the food in the cafeteria was cold, all the rest very good.
"Smooth Journey"
Fabulous trip. Very smooth and comfortable. Only issue is we pre booked tickets and though we would get our interrail discount when there but apparently you only get the discount when actually buying tickets at the desk. We had booked first class seats (without realising it) but they were extremely comfortable. I'd also recommend ear plugs because you do have people up and around during the night and also a movie is played on a screen. Overall a very pleasant trip.
"Terrible return journey"
The outbound to Valencia was normal. But, the return trip a complete disaster, people sleeping on the halls, is seats, doing their own "camping areas", children lying on the floors… the public area of cafeteria totally crowded, people sleeping even on the floor. I don't know if it is due to take advantage and sell more tickets over the capacity, but honestly If I can I'll avoid to come back.
"Pleasant trip"
We drove through Europe to take the ferry from Barcelona to Palma, Mallorca. It works great when you book via Direct ferries. Nice air style seats and a comfortable journey throughout the night. The only tricky thing was to find where the ferry departs from and to check in. It's all very "Spanish". We will definitely use Direct ferries again!
"All as expected"
All as expectation any accident, punctuality, animation in outbound and return , a very competitive price above all in our case (4 adultswith car and cabin).
"Balearia"
Although we book and pay in advance, we still have to go to the Balearia ticket office in Barcelona to confirm. It's unbelievable!
"Ferry trip review R/T Barcelona - Palma"
Very good service.
"satisfied with Balearia"
We are fans of your company and we would like the French language to be used in the same proportions than English or Spanish (there are more and more French people in the Baleares!!! We are always receive a warm welcome from the staff, the facilities and the catering are decent, the ferry is well maintained. The weak link is the punctuality. How can I get a season ticket between Barcelona, Ibiza and Denia?
"To palma de mallorca"
Very good organized to and from Palma de Mallroca and Barcelona. I will do this journey again. Thank you.
"Mallorca 2014 "
Overall good if you are a person that likes to watch the sea and you are not in a rush. The seats are not the most comfortable option if you are spending the night. The ships stable and comfortable but they should extent the bar opening times or at least have some more entertainment options. Attention and service from staff was excellent.
"Great Ferry trip"
The staff were friendly and helped us get our luggage to our cabin. The cabin was very clean and comfy. The complimentary water was thoughtful. We were able to relax and sleep in private which was so important to us. I will definitely book again.
"Good alternative instead of the flight"
Nice way of travelling, and very central as well from both Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona. The time table wasn't the best with departures from Barcelona but it was better from Palma de Mallorca. You need to have some patience as ferrys isn't effective as in Sardinia.
"Fantastic service"
I took my Grandfather on this service and he is a very slow walker and a little unsteady under foot. We parked the car on the car deck and my Grandfather had to climb many many stairs which proved to be very difficult. The staff help my Grandfather and even gave him a cabin on the house so that he could rest his feet for his trouble. What a service 10 out of 10. A BIG THANK YOU.
"Crossing Barcelona-Palma "
Very good service. No signs to find the ferry. Plan much too vague.
"Transfer not possible! "
Despite dozens of phone calls and pers appearance at the ticket office in Palma, I had to buy a new ticket for my fellow :-( Have also called several times with direct-ferries .... first it was said that a transfer to a different name is not a problem .... then no more response! That was a shame.
"crossing "
Everything worked just fine. Despite preparation, it was somewhat difficult to To find the check in place and the approach road to the ferry. The signs is (marking) is poor
"Balearia "
Simply the better option.
"With Balearia from Palma to Barcelona "
"The ship was OK, but the deposition location was a few miles from the Ticket Office. You had to go back to the main road and then direction out of town. Instead of a map you got only some advices oraly how to get there. Easily one can proceed and then miss the boat! "
"Crossing 28/11/2013 Palma-Barcelona "
1 booking quickly and easily - online - 2 ticket counter quickly 3 ship and accommodation vehicle: Since that day high waves and strong winds prevailed, the placement of the vehicle on the open deck was a disaster. It would have been the possibility of the vehicle to accommodate protected - instead, the vehicle of the constant spray (7.5 hours) was exposed - which meant that the vehicle was covered with a thick crust of salt on arrival. Also a three-time cleaning with respective underbody wash still has not eliminated all salt residues. My vehicle has suffered extremely. This ship I will never book more.
"A sea journey"
Very well run and friendly ship. Clearly very new and sets the standard for all other ferry operators. Cabin, food and facilities were all extremely good. A pleasant surprise!!
"Choppy sea"
Although the sea was choppy our cabin was comfortable and our lunch in the restaurant was delicious.
"Ferry Barcelona-Palma "
For 25 years, we use the Barcelona-Palma Ferry 2 times in a year. but only the 2nd time the Balearia. Not only that here the price is right, the staff is friendly, the food and the cabins are also better than the competitors. keep it up!
"Class service, beautiful cabin "
"I enjoyed the crossing and the service very much. I had booked quite an expensive cab, but has been worth it, time of travel since I had an injured foot. Service with the bus ride from the terminal to the ferry and from the ferry was good. Only the announcements at the departure terminal in Palma were not to be taken without demand at the counter I would have missed the bus and ferry. "
"Could be better "
When we were finally on the ferry was all green. A very nice Stuart assisted with a disabled cabin was very spacious and no bunk beds. Though a little noisy (ventilation and noise) but certainly better than the last time. Only the check is always and everywhere a drama. Again the office at another location. Ferry approximately 5km middle of an industrial harbor. Only to find with plan. I'm unfortunately used in Barcelona nothing else and that for 20 years. No comparison with the ferries to the north. The settlement is still Stone Age.
"Delighted "
I can only say that the trip was perfect.
"Hard to find "
The ship is hard to find in the port of Barcelona and the Port of Mallorca. Signs in the harbor, maps on the website or on the ticket, possibly a small card, etc. would greatly help. This has not been thought of from the perspective of the customer who is possibly in a foreign country and has never been in the harbor. Otherwise all good.
"Hardly criticism "
Only criticism; the outer region has hardly sitting or reclining
"hidden harbor "
The ships of the Balearia were normal for 7 hours crossing ok. But the docks in Barcelona is an imposition from the location - to find hardly anything nearby, all as on a construction site .... Therefore, we will in future only be booked in Acconia port centrally and the possibility of the stop of the vehicle still make a nice stroll or to go eat something.
"Good ship, poor check-in "
The ship cabins are practical, clean and neatly furnished, the service on board was good. For the umpteenth time but the check-in process was miserable and took over an hour. Despite lots of people only one switch was busy. Since Balearia - for incomprehensible reasons, at least for me - truck driver have priority over tourists, you can already be in the first position on the switch while still want to check in new trucks, it does not go ahead. The lady at the counter also has been running for a couple of minutes out and nothing works anymore, other tellers stroll past, but do not feel motivated to open a second switch, while waiting outside in the car wife and children impatiently. The three (!) Check-in kiosks, incidentally, were "out of order".
"everything was great .. thank you .. "
a relaxing stay on the deck shortened the long crossing ..
"Ferry Barcelona to Palma 23.00 clock "
Ride was ok but what was negative, that after 1 hour after departure, the restaurant and bar are closed, because we are, after all, up to 1300 km to the ferry and then have hunger, as well as the restaurant is open in the morning only to 6.oo clock which is barely enough to get a coffee, because at 6:30 we had to be already on the car.
"Value for money "
Finding the ferry was not so easy ... after we succeeded this long for a walk and repeated questions, then we could still enjoy a cold beer near the Ramblas, before leaving for the ship to 21 clock in the car. After uncomplicated check the ferry took off on time. The crossing was calm and comfortable (thanks to Sirena-seats). Already at 6.30 clock we saw the lights Palmas recovered, after which it went smoothly from the board after 7 clock. We will use this ferry back!
"A crossing from Palma to Barcelona on the 28th of September"
A good crossing
"Very pleasant crossing "
The docks are unfortunately very hidden, but on the ship is great. I really wanted to but this cabin was fully booked, but this would have regretted it. The lobby area is super comfortable with electrically adjustable seats (comfortable reclining position) for 5-6 h absolutely OK. But maybe Bring blanket is well air-conditioned. Secret Tip: sleeping one floor up and on the sofas (Just because - so hurry) otherwise journey home on the deck plans deck claw / depending on the weather. Back and forth we were almost 30 minutes earlier than planned from the ferry ^ ^. On the outward journey was on the outside deck, a grill at the bottom otherwise canteen. BBQ was great. Canteen - well, you will not starve. All in all, highly recommended. We were thrilled -. First time with ferry
"crossing to Mallorca "
A little difficult to check in, since there is no good itinerary, But otherwise all around good. We were very happy ... happy again.
"A return crossing between Barcelona and Palma"
Everything was perfect. Maybe the indication at port of Barcelona could be improved. I recommend your company to people who wants to go to the Baleares.
"Overnight ferry Barcelona - Palma "
The Pullman armchairs are unsatisfactory. Finding the port is not possible with the available on the internet cards.
"Barcelona-Palma asleep "
Tip: if you've never been to Barcelona and also do not know where the ferry, it is best to be on time in Barcelona. From the motorway take the exit 21 B down then there is no problem. At the Columbus column there are port side, a brown red building where one converts its Internet booking in a ticket and also experiences the dock for the ferry. They also give you a " map " from the pier and should then find the way. Obviously, the ferries are not always on at the same pier, therefore necessarily believe the plan and not to any passers-by. The waiting time for boarding must not tackle with high expectations you. A fenced parking with KZ character and two Toi Toi toilets. Boarding for all cars on time at 21:30 if the departure by 23 clock. staff on the ferry is also VERY friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. seats are identical to those in economy class on the plane, 48 in one, so ne way cinema hall. I had my sleeping bag and have put me in a protected place outdoors and slept until the " Wake up " at 6:50 that the restaurant is open again for breakfast. The was then already 40 min before discharge in Palma. All in all I thought it was ok, I yes no Queen Mary .... The crossing was on 9/27/13
"A crossing from Barcelona Palma "
The hardest thing was to find the departure point: no signposting on the departure gate. The crossing was good otherwise. My only regret is that there are no vending machine for when the bar and the restaurant are closed.
"crossing "
The food on board, we found insufficient, especially for the days journey from Palma to Bacelona the staff at the bar with one person was understaffed (nevertheless Friendly The) though still had to be prepared Snaks -., And in the after-season For day passage we missed seating on deck. It could yet be bolted to the deck benches. The staff was very friendly.
"Disappointed with the area"
A good crossing and a very good welcome aboard both ferries. In Barcelona, the ticket office is too far away from the boarding area. It's not practical when you travel with a car (no free parking lots nearby). The boarding area is really gloom and located at the bottom of a jetty. There is no signposting and it is very difficult to find.
"well organized "
Check-in, boarding with vehicle and the settlement were as always professional and fast. Punctual landing and leaving the ferry with the car was handled in a very short time. Amazing in the densely packed amount of trucks and cars.
"Ferry Majorca Barcelona "
Everything well organized, annoying the current TV is on full blast in the seats (Neptune was the name), you could sit nowhere in silence and read a book.
"Mallorca "
very bad signposting towards the docks, waiting area no amenities (toilet, drinks)
"Good place to ride if you have the ferry found. "
Good ferry, good room, good service, good food. Worst is the journey, or the description on the internet. Just by chance I found the check in desk in the City. Otherwise, I was very pleased.
"All good, except for ... "
drove from barcelona by palma, problem was to find the ship it is veeeery badly signposted, very bad. that can be improved with simple agents. otherwise all was well. well, ... I had a simple seat. as the nice lady from recception at midnight simply has turned off the tv without something to say, all people sitting in the room did not want to be switched off the TV. she shrugged her shoulders and went easy. maybe you should let the passengers decide whether they want to or not entertainment. we felt like in kindergarten when you hadd to take a nap. So that really was not necessary. thus, the journey really boring! not even a tV ... well. I hope that my feedback has somewhat effected. greeting, maik white
"palma "
very good
"A lack of confort"
An unconfortable chair
"Balearia ferry Barcelona-Palma de Mallorca "
Never again Balearia! No seat on the return trip. Had the entire time spend outside on the floor.
"Barcelona-Palma-Barcelona "
The embarkation in Barcelona was adventurous. Pure coincidence that we found everything;-). I've heard that is rebuilt and that the concrete shed (waiting area) but was then temporary. A little gangster movie atmosphere. On the way back we should extend the opening times during the day in the restaurant. The staff was fine. On the way back we got to the car in the basement and had about half an hour after arrival to wait until we then to the car were allowed to leave the ferry. All trucks, buses and other cars were already out. That was annoying. The waiting was annoying. Kiosk etc. closed.
"Improves "
Ferry was well renovated, clearance quickly and time, maybe too few seats in the boat and on deck.
"Ups and downs ... "
Outward: timely embarkation, arriving on time at the destination-best score! but: incompetent staff at check-in in Barcelona; Lady forgot the return ticket of the motor vehicle (more on that later) Ship: pure expediency and in bad weather no (meaningful) board performances - you haveee to wait a long time ... Toilets very unkempt and broken - too few toilets on board Return: the estimated date is not possible because missing ticket - the staff outrageous BALEAARIA spot in Mallorca - Complaint runs with legal counsel ... good weather: sun deck Conclusion: Ship equipment minus staff partly very friendly, sometimes outrageously
"A very long disembarkment"
It was my first trip to Mallorca. However, I've been to Corsica several times with corsica ferry, so I can compare. The parking of the cars is very poorly organised. We had to go forward to park, so we had to go in reverse to exit, which takes a lot more time. As we have more time at boarding, they should do the opposite. It took us more than an hour to disembark. If I can choose another company, I would if the price is right.
"catastrophic port "
The loading station in Barcelona is absolutely unworthy of the term - an industrial wasteland with filthy toilets - an atmosphere like in a movie ending time in Harlem. Simply unbelievable.. The reserved seat was immediately occupied by strangers who pushed together in order to form three to four chairs, a couch - the result is not nearly enough seats for the travelers who have not booked a cabin. Seems the ship's crew to be completely care. No one intervened. Loading process worked smoothly. Cabin passengers were awakened by loud knocking at the door. This is also possible different. Cabins clean.
"A good crossing (boarding and disembarkment were a bit chaotic)"
Punctual and clean. It's all good. However, some members of the staff…and the organisation at arrival and departure. If you place cars in which there are an dog on a lower deck,it means that you need to go up and down the stairs with the dog next to people who may be afraid of dogs. There are cages for the dogs on the upper deck...Some member of the staff gives you the order to wait on the deck...Thankfully, some other are nicer!
"Barcellona-Palma"
To be honest we didn't have a bad trip. The staff on board was helpful. However, they should pay more attention and make sure the seats in the coffee lounge are assigned to as many passengers as possible and not taken over by a few people that force others to seat on the floor. I would like to thank Directferries for the promptness and advise.
"A crossing between Palma and Barcelona"
There is no signpostings to go from BARCELONA or PALMA to the boarding area. During the inbound trip, we were stuck in a corridor for about 1h before we were able to disembark. There are some announcement, but never in French.
"A few services on board"
The ferry we used had a poor bar/restaurant service and there wasn't entertainment for teenagers. The day crossing could be improved organising some activities for those passengers travelling for h8. on the bright side: ferry on time and staff helpful.
"Crossing from Barcelona to Palma with Balearia "
I can not recommend crossing at night so far, since we had only 2 places in the cafeteria and there could not sleep. Definitely a night crossing book a cabin or a reasonable seat. The return journey during the day in the cafeteria is tolerable. One sits just 7.5 hours on cafeteria chairs (!). As value for money was unbeatable.
"Baleares"
Nothing to report, it was perfect. During the outbound crossing, we slept on benches. The inbound was during the day and there was a bit more people. The crossings were fairly fast.
"Barcelona Palma Return"
You need to know the place to know where to board. It's badly indiated and the staff at the desk isn't good at giving information. You need to choose your ferry. The Visemar 2 was a horrendous. There are more passengers than seats. Some people had to stand or sit on the floor during the whole crossing. Still the crossing is far from being cheap (700 euros for 3 people and a car).
"Barcelona-Palma"
The boarding dock is too difficult to find ( we nearly missed the ferry, although we arrived 1 hour before boarding). Plus there was no bar solarium wheras It was supposed to be. No swimming pool either, whereas with the same ferry company and for the same price, there is one between Barcelona and Citutadella.
"A difficult crossing"
The day crossing went well… However the night crossing wasn't so good. The bar and the restaurant close quicky after departure. Afterwards, you have no food and no water. There is no confort, if you haven't booked a cabin. The Sirena seats are very inconfortable. People snore, make some noise, babies are crying... It's awful! You're not even given a duvet and a pillow to lay on the floor. I do not recommend this company, unless maybe you book a cabin.
"Overnight ferry OK , ferry during daytime deficient "
The night ferry was OK, cleanliness OK, air conditioning could not regulate (except stuff by towel in the air to avoid freezing to death). The ferry (12:30 to 19:45) with miserable space, one restaurant, which closes already at 14:00 (6 hours before arrival in Barcelona!) And then there is no more food. A few toilets, even at exit no more soap. All in all functional, no more and no less. PS: in Barcelona and Palma the exact departure locations of the ferry in the harbor are very badly or not signposted !
"Barcelona Palma crossing"
The crossing aboard this boat was fairly disappointing. Getting back to our cars in the hold took a very long time. It was 40° without air. Not great with young children. Plus, during the inbound journey, which laste 6h30, there were no seats available. We didn't like those crossings at all.
"Barcelona-Palma"
Ferry on time and polite staff... it's a shame that the ship is more equipped to carry vehicles than passengers (there's no swimming pool or chairs) the cabin seems to be clean (don't look under the beds) I would suggest to reintroduce the fast ferries and to add a night crossing on the return. Restaurant: there were 6/7 beers on draft but none of them were working.
"Palma Barcelona and return"
A decent boat Being able to make the inbound journey at night would be good There are no hair dryer It's very noisy during the day.
"Crossing from Barcelona to Palma and back "
"Hi there, we are at 16:08. and 26.08.2013 on set with Balearia from Barcelona to Palma and back with 4 people and cars. The weather was good and the crossing therefore. Reasonably without large swell and corresponding thereto '"roles"' ferry We had booked the "" cheap "" plan with seat in the restaurant and bar area. The outward journey at night and the return trip on the day. Upon arrival in Barcelona, there was chaos with us because we have the ticket counter or the clearance house of Balearia not found immediately. In addition, the parking facilities in front of the building are quite limited, so we got emulate it right with the Policía. They let us in view of the situation, before and in the building, but grant. In the building there was a long line at the ticket counter, so we had to fear that we will not reach the ferry. The handling was so slow and there was no information on how the ticket procedure works at all. We had booked the tickets on the Internet and had thereby a booking code. It was not clear to us that the free switch could be visited directly from us and there was strife between the waiting guests. This could have been with more information on the part of the Company avoided. This is important because there are customers who have already booked with merchant (travel agency / internet) and customers spontaneously tickets at the counter. When we had the tickets eventually, we still had 4 KM drive through the harbor area, and then could go into port and ship containers, almost as freight, in the ferry. From my perspective, it was pure coincidence that we have found the ferry and then were able to check. You should definitely plan your arrival by car and min. 2 hours before departure be in Barcelona harbor! Inside the Ferry everything was OK so far, but customers with small children should know it with the "" cheap ticket "" is a little uncomfortable. During the crossing at night to get as good as not to sleep and increases tired from the ship. If you want more comfort here, should ask for a seat or cabin passage, which of course also to a considerably higher price offered. The journey takes about 7 hours and 30 minutes plus about 30 minutes and stacking and landing or entry and exit time (rank). However, the crossing for the family a kind positves adventure and the views of Palma and Barcelona, from the seas side was that most holidaymakers in Majorca do not see. The return trip from Mallorca was considerably easier since the terminal there is manageable and we had the Tickts already. "
"Crossing Barcelona-Palma-Barcelona "
The Wharf in Barcelona is located at the far end of the harbor. There is no way to safely stop the car and look at Barcelona. Until one is in the center of Barcelona, take's ages. The seating inside the ferry (we had no cabin ) let the desire for a 2nd class seat of the German Federal Railroad pay ...... The signs of the correct approach to ports in Palma is like a scavenger hunt. The fact that the port staff speak almost exclusively Spanish, makes it not necessarily easier. Who does not scheduling an extensive reserve time here, will spend one more day in Palma! The ferry back to Barcelona was disco-deck" with a "." Felt 3000 Watt have an acoustically flushed almost from the deck. As the proportion of young people on this normal ferry was manageable, the question of what marketing specialist with the shipping company was at work here remains. This was all the more annoying as this was the only way to enjoy the fresh sea air and the sun. Ergo you went to the cafeteria, since the few available relax-chairs extensively with bags and clothes "" reserved "" were .....
"Modern ship with all the comforts and professional, friendly crew "
Modern ship with all the comforts and professional, friendly crew
"perfect"
The boat from Barcelona to Palma was fine for a night crossing. During the day, there wouldn't be enough to do. The only problems are that we had to wait a long time to get the keys to our cabin. Plus you had queue for boarding in the middle of the containers, which was a bit scary. Thankfully the boat we boarded for the inbound journey had more facilities. We appreciated the animation in the children area.
"Ferries"
The outward bound journey to Palma was absolutely brilliant as we travelled overnight the recliners were lovely and comfy, we arrived refreshed ready for our first days holiday, the return journey was not quite as comfy but it was a day trip so perhaps that reflects but it was not that bad.
"Crossing in 09/08/2013"
A crossing on cafeteria like seats and lights permanently on meant a sleepless night. The confort os the boat is really basic… but it's cheap!!!
""
Good crossings between Barcelona and Palma. One problem: The boarding area in Palma is not indicated and the address doesn't exist in my GPS. It is very difficult to find, almost impossible for someone who doesn't speak Spanish.
"Pleasant to the Balearic Islands "
We were housed in a beautiful four-bed cabin with views to the front and can only lift the thumb.
"Resting areas"
On the way there (Barcelona Palma), the boat was very inconfortable for people who didn't book a cabin. The resting areas are monopolised by people using several seats (it's the same at the bar). People lay down on the benches, although there aren't many. The boat we boarded on the way back was better configured. There were more benches and seats. Why don't this boat travel at night?
"Crossing Barcelona - Palma de Mallorca "
Round-trip ran smoothly.
"Barcelona/Palma de Mallorca return crossing"
"Very good"
No problem, easy booking, respected schedule. Bring your pillow (and maybe your sleeping bag) if you haven’t booked a cabin and travel by night.
"poor organization "
An award for bad organization: Travelling by motorbike To pick up the ticket booked online at Balearia about 40 minutes waiting time (2 switches of about 12 are open). During this time the motorcycle with unclosed luggage is without surveillancy at the roundabout! Upon receipt of the ticket (10 minutes before departure) I get a bad directions to the ferry (about 1.5 miles away); fortunately a strange fellow has agreed to lead me there - otherwise I would have never found. Crossing was i.O. On the return trip I had booked a Neptuno recliner. But unfortunately all seemed to be occupied. After repeated requests to the front desk, reservations all located there passengers were checked and I was assigned a seat. If one were to assign a seat number when booking, they would not have these problems! Since there are far better organized ferry. Otherwise there was no storm, no thunder and fallen we are not too :-)
"I didn't come back with my car, which is still in Mallorca."
please tell me how to modify my return ticket between palma and mallorca. I had to fly back because of an emergency. I need to come back to pick up my car. Please can you tell me how to modify my ticket
"Crossing Palma-Barcelona and back "
Has everything worked out great. Very good price, all right
"Different ships."
We booked a seat in the lounge for everyone in our party. On the outward journey this was splendid, spacious and comfortable seats. On the way back the seats were tight, cramped and crowded. Of the 10 reclining seats on deck 3 were broken. Defintely not enough then. Aside from that the journey was fine.
"return barcelona palma de mallorca"
Great journey, everything on time and swift. But a lack of seats on the outside deck during the day! It's a real suffering without a cabin. A lack of comfortable chairs. Strange that there are videos with pool, but there's no pool on board? As for the rest everything we were satisfied.
"A trip to the Baleares"
A superb return crossing with some nice views over Mallorca. The outbound journey was more difficult at night without a cabin.
"A return crossing between Palma and Barcelona - 4/8/2013- Visemar One"
Departure from Palma at 12.30pm. We noticed a difference of confort between our outbound ferry crossing and our inbound ferry crossing. No "pullman" seats and few quiet zones. The deck chairs on the upper deck were fare and between and usually damaged.
"Organisation"
It is difficult to find the boarding deck in Barcelona and in Palma. No address, no signpostings, no GPS localisation. It was fine on the boat otherwise.
"Something to think about"
An afternoon return trip in August. Remember to take a jumper if you are planning to stay inside. The AC is really strong!
"Return Barcelona - Palma"
A pleasant crossing aboard the Visemar One with Balearia. A bit more leg room during the night crossing and better access to the outside, with maybe a small pool, during the day crossing would be welcome. It's a long afternoon with the kids.
"A bad experience"
Disappointed by the noise, the boat in general, the catering. Plus I met passengers who had tickets which costed half the price of mine. The VISEMARE ONE is a boat to avoid.
"Good is different "
The somewhat dated ferry offers the traveler little. Most deck chairs on the deck are defective. Soap dispenser in the toilets are partially torn from the wall. Pulmann seats are not particularly comfortable, after sleep, you will feel whacked. In the space of Pulmann seats and in the canteen (I avoid the term conscious restaurant) are presented first-run movies in Spanish with English subtitles. For staff: The receptionists and childcare are very friendly and knowledgeable. The marshaller in the parking deck to chat with each other and are helpless drivers hardly help (on a ferry to Corsica I had experienced a well-rehearsed referrers team that manages the park in record time).) The bar staff is overburdened. The signage in the ports (both Barcelona and Palma) is a disaster. Just in time to arrive, so that one also finds the ferry.
"Crossing from Barcelona to Mallorca "
Unfortunately, not enough seating :-( Otherwise everything fine :-)
"Crossing from Barcelona to Palma with Balearia."
We had opted for Balearia for twice the price as the other company hoping for more comfort on board. During the outward journey (at night) we couldn't even get a cabin. The responsible member of staff kept leading us on until 1am after which he suddenly disappeared. Next time we will for sure use the cheapest company.
"Installation on board"
Perfectly punctual. A problem free crossing, except that I had booked "bucatas" (plane type seats) and I ended up sitting in the cafeteria - it's difficult to sleep in a sitting position
"La Palma-Barcelona V. V. ferry "
Punctual Departure friendly staff shame is only open only an hour the restaurant. (12-14h at departure 12:30) and 24:00 h at 23:30 departure Something messed up on arrival who and which parking deck can already to the car. Note: at Direct Ferry no booking possibility for pets such as Dog. Otherwise, I was very satisfied and recommend the ferry Armin Richter
"Barcelona/Palma return"
The night crossing next to the caferteria could be nicer if the light was subdued after departure.
"Rating crossing PALMA-BARCELONA "
The ferry is advanced in years and offers the traveler without cab only overcrowded lounges. Pullman seats occupied, overcrowded restaurant with sleeping guests. Most upset but I'm thinking about loading personnel., You have us 45min. Motorcycles whose parking space actually was clear, let stand at approximately 40 degrees in the loading lane. Only after all the cars and trucks were loaded, were about 10 motorcycles on board (in the shade). And then also directly on the cargo hatch. Towards the lounges we had then worry about climbing between trucks .... Is clear to us, nevermore!
"A trip from Barcelona to Palma"
The boarding with a vehicle was well organised, the staff was nice and available. Activities for the kids during the day. However, the TV are too loud at night and the lights cannot be switched off. Therfore, it is difficult to sleep. I would recommend it otherwisee.
"crossing from Palma to Barcelona 30.07.2013 "
We have with 8 pers., And ferried 4 motorcycles. First, we have about 2 hours in the blazing sun have to wait until we were allowed to go last in the hold, then there was on deck and below deck not enough seating. Outside there were hardly any chairs and certainly not in the shade (it was very hot) and inside was so cold air conditioned, that you needed a jacket and trousers that we have not had because of the heat here. In short order, the crossing was for us a catastrophe.
"An unforgetable adventure."
It was a pleasant experience to travel on the BALEARIA. Wrth repeating.
"all the best "
The ferry back was only the beginning of our long journey to Germany. It's hard to judge a transport. Next time we will book a cabin to be a little by ourselves.maybe somthing to sleep a little. Since the weather was beautiful and the thermometer showed more than 40 ° C, the staff, lowered the room temperature, us it was too cold and we were freezing because we do not know before, we have the possibility not sweater had and for safety reasons we were no more than that to the car back. But that was the only thing that bothered us. The food was really tasty and of grea variety. the seating comfortable and clean, the toilet very clean and the staff friendly and polite and very patient when something didnt go the right way. For the few Spanish-speaking guests there were a care and a TV, ran in the children's films and thus the time passed faster. The Visemar One is, as I find practical ferry for trucks. I would have still wanted in the outer regions of some seating to a little longer to enjoy the beautiful views of the island can. Conclusion, the ferry was on time and convenient and clean, so all the best.
"Our experience with Balearia"
This was a very fun experience, worth repeating. Especially the return journey on the Able Matutes was fun.
"An assessment of a crossing"
We go to Mallorca Alcudia every year during week 27 and 28 from Barcelona (berth for the outbound journey and seat for the inbound journey). The crossing from Palma went as expected. The return journey was more difficult. We were 1/2 late and had to wait over one hour under 32 degres without an explanation. Regarding our ferry, we have had more confortable ferries with the SERENA seats. The snack bar was fine though.
"Night and day crossings from Barcelona to Palma"
I recommend a night crossing in a cabin and a day crossing with a seat (with AC). It's so confortable to sleep that the arrival is almost too early.
"Balearia travel "
were satisfied, unfortunately no German Announce
"Travelling with Balearia"
Positive points: professional and pleasant reception, clean boat, confortable cabin (better than the company we usually use). Negative points : disembarking is long (but we are on holidays), we couldn't get a refund for our car crossing (we didn't take it because of a breakdown)
"Sailing to illusion "
It was very quiet during the night and we arrived to the destination with great excitement.
"Trip"
A serious company which took great care of us during our trip. Nothing to complain about, it was very good!
"Majorca Holidays 2013 Balearia "
Wharf for the Balearia in Barcelona is a sleazy corner. Using the ship itself I'm already four times down. No luxury ship, but comfortable enough for a night ride. Return trip to Barcelona with a larger ship (name?). Significantly better comfort, very comfortable recliner, large outdoor terrace (daytrip). significantly better catering services, quite the friendly staff. Due to the loading with very many truck 45 minutes waiting time in his own car to leave the ship. In the overall analysis of the round-trip ride my assessment is carried out with satisfactory +. In view of many German tourists announcements should also be in German translation, not only in Spanish, French and English.
"Crossing Barcelona - Palma de Mallorca "
I was surprised at how clean it was on the ship. I went the last time about 15 years ago because it looked different. Ferry can be recommended. I had booked a seat, it was in the room very calm, so that you could sleep for a few hours. Except for the fact that one has robbed me in front off the office building of the ferry company, everything went great. I can only advise everyone to be absolutely vigilant in this city. I was not paying attention two minutes because you have my complete wallet stolen out of the car with all the papers and of course cash.
"Go at 10.7. by 23 clock "
Beginning of Boardens very late. Departure of the ship more than 30 minutes late. Arrival in Palma on time. Leaving the port wsa not smooth, because I had on the truck deck with the Jeep. Loudspeaker announcements cannot be understood as a result of moderate quality
"Overnight ferry, Barcelona - Palma"
We took the overnight ferry from Barcelona to Palma. As the journey is short (the ship departs at 2300 hrs and arrives at 0700 hrs) we decided not to book a cabin and reserved airline type reclining seats instead. This was a mistake. The seats were cramped and located in a smallish room with little leg space in between. They faced a large screen, The lights were on and a noisy film played until 0130 hrs making sleep impossible. At the end of the film some of the overhead bright lights were extinguished, however, others remained on. In the toilet facility nearby, there was only a warm air dryer so that I couldn't dry my face after shaving. At the Barcelona ferry terminal, it is impossible to distinguish the english language announcements. The sound quality of the loud speaker system is poor. The boarding of the transit bus to the ship commenced well before the time given to us at prior enquiry. When we found out we had to rush and only caught the bus just in time.
"No luxury cruise "
It's just a ferry and not a cruise ship. I was lucky enough to have a 4-cabin all to myself, with three others, strangers I would not want it to be. It is very narrow and the furnishings were significantly older, but clean and tidy. The restaurant is only open in a specific window of time was ok at the night crossing is, on the return journey (Mallorca-Barcelona), which runs during the day, which is annoying, so the only bar with little to recommend snacks. The quality of the food in the restaurant is not spotty, with soup and salad you can survive. On the sun deck are just a few chairs, all of which are broken and tied to the railing. But what does not work is that the safety equipment is not freely accessible. Thus the container for life jackets is sealed with cable ties, I do not want to know what is going on in an emergency! This is an unacceptable lack! The announcements are, if you do not speak Spanish, not to be understood in English, the lady reads a text in English . she probably does not understand. When getting people to have to wait half an hour in the bunch is also annoying, here would be helpful a call when you can move on which deck to the vehicle. Otherwise, the crossing is ok, similar to inter-urban train, there is no comfort, but one arrives.
"Impression "
A pleasant crossing, but the delay at arrival spoils everything. Why do we have to wait for an hour before getting out of the boat?
"expected more"
What happened to the fast ferries? We were surprised that we could not find one. Check in at Barcelona was not good. We had trouble finding it and the check in woman was less than helpful. We expected the ferry to have more to offer. We reserved seats and had loud group of travellers in there which made sleeping difficult. On the return journey, the reserved seats filled up and there was no room for us. Overall, would fly next time...ferry was clean and OK, but expected more room, restaurants, amenities.
"A beautiful journey"
The prestations were as described when booking - an excellent value for money - a beautiful journey on a clean and functional boat.
"Our opinion after more than 10 trips to the Visemar One "
The Visemar One is actually a pretty decent ship for a low workshop ferry to Palma.Ich but would something sensitive, or even older people, this ship is only under circumstances to be recommended especially during the summer time with school classes (also older young guys) very crowded, and they behave very rude. Feed with drawn shoes on the table and sofas, almost no seats cafeteria, are also in the overnight ferry very loud. is perceived by the crew but nothing done. recently renewed sofas are thus already defective, which for the shipping company so costs money and will eventually be added to the price. My recommendation: This ferry is good overall, but the shipping company should train staff tthat their own property is to be kept in well maintainance.
"Difficut to access the ferries"
Very good journeys both ways. However, the boarding are in Barcelona and Palma were difficult to find: no exact address to ask for directions or use a GPS. I would be useful and easy to provide those informations when booking. Then your services would have been perfect.
"Which way leads to the ferry? "
The transport of car certainly does not belong to the target group of this shipping company. Actually, it was a matter of luck that we found the ferry in Barcelona. No sign for parking in a ruined building without sanitation. The marshaller in civil and without foreign language skills came with his old private -car. Seemed all very improvised and incompetent. Aboard it was th same. since no reserved seats were issued in Sirena was all occupied by people who did not belong there. least three times we had to show the ticket. did not think about to sign out ht reserved seats. The return trip, however, went smoothly. The staff was friendly but very determined. It works!
"Always gladly again! "
The ferry Barcelona - Palma worked super. Once you sleeping, and one is in Mallorca.. The connection Palma - Barcelona runs during the day. Unfortunately I had to wait for an hour to check in the blazing sun.
"went on the ferry shortly before take off"
We came almost too late, still good clearance! However, it is difficult to find the ferry at the end of the dock, especially when time is short. Punctual arrival in Palma. Overall everything is ok.
"Palma-Barcelona crossing"
The crossing took place without a glitch. We disembarked 10 minutes early. However, there is NO indications in Palma to find the ticket office where we can collect the tickets we've booked online (it's scandalous).
"Parking at the terminal catastrophic "
The wait at the ferry is an impertinence! Dixie toilet! Not even a smaall shop, no further service! Passengers treated as cargo! Ship OK. Meals OK.
"Finding difficult ... "
The ship and the cabin were ok. Punctual arrival in Palma. However, it is difficult to find the ferry at the end of the dock, as signs clearly missing.
"Ferry from Barcelona to Palma and back "
In both ports, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca it should have better directions to the dock (panels: Ferry to Palma).. One finds the ferry hardly. the ticket office in Barcelona should not be in a place completely different.. The air conditioning is set to cold, with a passage from 7 h freezes you.
"Barcelona-Palma-Barcelona"
Outward journey: aircon was set too cold. Pullman seats are too close behind eachother. All in all a pleasant experience nonetheless, especially the return journey during the day. The view of Mallorca and Isla Dragonera is magnificent.
"Barcelona - Palma ferry "
We had a return trip. The overnight leg from Barcelona was excellent as we had a cabin which was clean and perfectly acceptable. The staff were helpful. Although we boarded quickly we were sitting in our car for a very frustrating 50 minutes before we could disembark. The return from Palma was ok. It seems ridiculous to have such restricted times for the restaurant opening especially as there is little to do other than read or sleep. Again there was a delay in disembarking. The ferry is very much a commercial operation with car passengers as a sideline but if you want a car in Majorca or don't want to fly, then it is a reasonable alternative.
"Crossing to Barcelona - Palma"
Crossing aboard the Visemar One was very good! Good food and drink, cabin was excellent. First improvement could be that the check in site can be more clearly shown.
"Night crossing"
I am too old to spend the night in a sleeper seat. Will book a cabin next time.
"Never again!! "
"Since we first experience with "Balearia" ", and had the comparison with Acciona, our conclusion is quite clear: never again Balearia! Barcelona - Palma: Ranging from the residence prior to check-in is total wasteland. The only "" comfort "" consisted of three bad toilets... Boarding at 23 h and therefore later departure ... eternal wait until the cars also will finally after countless TRUCKS finally were allowed to drive the ship. Palma-Barcelona: Punctual boarding and departure. But when we arrived in Barcelona, was a total of one hours waiting. something wrong with the ramp, and then we waited again in a stuffy niche in the loading room until after 25 minutes we were finally able to leave little cars and we were off the ship. Whether we ever go back to these experiences by car to Mallorca, written in the stars ....
"Cozy crossing "
The trip was very cozy. The staff is very nice. The cabins are very well equipped and the lunch is good and cheap. We have enjoyed the passage from Mallorca to Barcelona for the second time with the Balearia and that, if necessary, do it again.
"Good crossing"
We slept surprisingly well during the outbound journey. The seats during the inbound journey were confortable. The meals are affordable. A good crossing
"Palma - Barcelona "
Stay was pleasant. Unfortunately, the TV in the room of Sirena seats is rather disturbing because of lack of headphone jacks. For people who want to sleep the sound is too loud. And do you turn the sound down, there is somebody who prefers television with sound. What a pity! In addition, three movies in succession, inclusive IceAge, almost a torture for travelers in need of rest.
"Good thing! "
The crossing / Barcelona 23:00 - 06:30 Palma / was overall quite pleasant. A cheeky co-passenger that bothered several people in the sleeper chair range was the only unpleasant - but what can you do against shameless people ?
"very good ... "
very good ... with sun terrace would be good ...
"Ferry Barcelona to Palma with Balearia, Visemar One on 1 May"
This overnight journey was very unpleasant. Because the cabins are so expensive we selected reclining seats. This works well on the English Channel. There was only one reclinging seat area. The seats were OK, but to our amazement a crew member came into this silent area at mid-night and put the TV on and then put the volume up loud. It stayed that way for the whole night with 3 people watching it and the rest trying to sleep. I finally gave up and went down stairs to the bar and dining areas. Here people were laid out sleeping on the benches around the rooms. It was 2:00am and no one was watching the loud TVs there. What is the matter with the crew? Why have TV on after mid-night? Is it a directive from Balearia in the hopes of making everyone pay their over inflated prices for cabins? This was unneccesarily agresive action. Also note that the food is really bad as well.
"Ferry: Barcelona - Palma - Barcelona "
the signposting towards the embarking-spot was weakly! and although using the navigation device almost impossible to find in the evenings. Otherwise, everything worked out well, too bad that the restaurant is only open briefly when driving from Palma to Barcelona. One would hope that even in the early evening food would be offered. dog crates on deck 5 in an inapropiated condition, so the dogs are in their own vehicle in better hands than in the heavily worn boxes.
"moderately "
Although it is known that there are a lot of Germans going to Mallorca, there are information only in Spanish and English. Is Engand important in the EU? Loudspeaker announcements are to be understood in English hardly. Coffee in plastic cup? The seats on the ship are very scarce in contrast to ships of Acciona What happens in case of over-booking? The car deck was only half full!
"Barcelona to Palma with Balearia"
Travelling with Balearia has a few downsides. Their office, when you eventually find it as Barcelona is not the easiest city to drive in, is badly situated and difficult to park, so print out your boarding passes on line …it's easy. The boarding location is now situated in what looks like a derelict site and only 'opens' at 7.30pm for the evening ferry. There are absolutely no facilities there apart from a portable toilet! The situation is far too distant from the city to make it possible to park the car and walk back, so once you arrive you're stuck. Having said that, the ship(s) are very pleasant, the (Italian) crew friendly, the ship is clean and the food and beverages not too expensive. The internet access, however, is!
"All good"
All very good! Except for some of the equipment on board.
"A long day crossing"
Outbound journey during the night: clean cabins, everything went smoothly. Inbound journey during the day. Long crossing, no possibility to seat outside and the seats inside are few, far and between. We didn't try any food.
"Went well"
Nothing bad report, on the whole, everything went well.
"Twice in a few days"
What I can say is, the trip was really nice but I find a bit of nonsense that passengers without car have to wait for the bus before we can get out from the ferry at the arrival. It should be the chance to get out from the ferry and get the bus at the pier.
"Barcelone Palma Ferry "
In May, on Baléaria, there are no fast ferries but only traditional ferries, more cargo than ferry, looking at the number of trucks on the vehicle decks. Night and day, this ferries have the confortable 4 berths cabin with shower and toilet. They cost 150€ per cabin. The night crossing flows very quickly. During the day crossing, the seats are divided between the pullmann lounge (not many seats), the bar, the self... The pullmann shows recent movies. It's a shame that there are no seats on the external decks.
"check the prices carefully"
The prices often change on the site. Check them several times before booking. The boarding in Barcelona and Palma is not well indicated, ask for informations when checking-in. The journey on the boat is pleasant and the price of drinks reasonable
"The positive and negative points of our Barcelona Majorca crossing"
Positive points: free cabins on the return journey. Negative points: the numbered pullmann seats are not automatically attributed to able families and couples together and to prevent abuse with people using several seats to lay down. Maybe, the lights could be turned off after midnight. Two years ago, our boat was bigger and with more confortable seats and more choice for eating. We were thinking that we would find the same quality and confort.
"Nice crossing"
I thought the ferry was fine, i found the food more than ok.
"Ferry trip"
A long 8 hours!
"Very good journey, but bad organisation for disembarking"
Very good trip, immaculate cabins, but bad organisation when disembarking. We had to wait for the buses come on board to take the passengers instead of disembarking the passengers from the top deck right away. Result: a 45 minutes wait in the car.
"Ferry Barcelona-Palma"
Everything went well, except that we were woken up the morning we arrived in Palma by an annoucement in the corridors at 5.30am(!) for a docking at 6.30am… and that we need to wait for at least one hour and fifteen minutes for the trunks to disembark before we can exit with our vehicle. It was very long, especially after such a short night, the boat leaving Barcelona at midnight! It's a bit expensive for a cabin. Additionally, it would be nice to be able to return to Barcelona at night - which is not available on the Balearias ferry, so we can take the route to France during the day and not in the evening at 7.30pm (docking time in Barcelona). That's why next September we'll take our tickets on Acciona, because for a few € more, the company offers night trips between Barcelona and Palma.
"Friendly, clean and efficient"
No problems, other than arriving late - but that seemed to be due to the stormy seas on our particular crossing. With nicer weather, we are sure it would have been very pleasant all the way. It is a nice and cost-effective alternative to flying.
"Signage??"
This was the worst signed, organised ferry I have ever been. When you arrive at the port, bearing in mi d it's a car ferry, there's no parking that's easy anywhere near the ticket collection office. Then the signs to the Balearics ferry terminal is appalling " it's a good job we'd had to go around the 10 lane roundabout 6 times before we had recited it. We got the 3hrs before sailing but no toilet or refreshment facilities so we had to head back into Barcelona - not great on a Friday eve at 8 pm!! The ferry cabin was fine but food quality was appalling! Glad to get off other end! Not looking forward to return trip in September! Also very exspensive compared to other ferries as they know they have a monopoly!
"My trip"
Excellent as always. Cabin was superb. Staff were very good. Only a short trip so would recommend to anyone! Brilliant!
"All good except Barcelona port"
Barcelona port: Little difficult to find. The waiting lane was then on a building site! Ferry: Functional, just a ferry which takes passengers and their card from A to B. If you don't expect more you will be fine.
"Good experince with Balearia"
Our family of four booked a cabin for the overnight passage from Barcelona to Palma, Mallorca in April 2013. My only small complaints are that the cabin bathroom was not as clean as it should have been, (it smelled a bit like like a bus station) and the ticket line at check in was very long and slow. However, as the departure time approached, they added a second window attendant, so things moved along better. Otherwise, the service, punctuality, and accommodation were fine. We did not use the restaurant so can't comment on that. For those wishing to travel by sea or needing to transport a vehicle, the ferry is a fine option.
"Travelling to Majorca"
On board service was good, and check in process easy and unproblematic. Although the food was bad.
"Gladly return"
Everything went very well. Only the signs in the port of Barcelona were a bit meager. A map for the return to the port would have been useful, also information given was minimal, other than that everything was immaculate. The ship was clean and punctual.
"Not for foot passengers"
After many crossings on the route Palma-Barcelona I have to say that wasn't happy with the crossing of Balearia. Without a car you are taken by bus to a far away point of the point and are then taken on board. In Barcelona we had to wait for 30 minutes until the majority of the cars had already left the ferry. The nice feeling of walking of board in Barcelona doesnt exist. On board itself there are no deckchairs and not much possibiliy to walk around outside. The cafe is not nice, as there are loads of plastic dishes flying around everywhere.
"Ferry Barcelona - Palma"
The signposts to the port is very bad. It wasn't clear that we had to go into the building to check-in. There is no parking there either and no staff which would tell you the right direction. Crossing was ok, but you could feel more secure and in good hands here too. Being able to visit and care for your dog should be possible. The cabin should be bookable for one person, obviously for a higher price.
"... an interesting experience!"
As no address was provided for the Balaeria Terminal I followed the Port signs and ended up in the Barcelona container depot. On my third time round a particular roundabout a policeman took pity on me and directed me back to the Autoroute and told me to take exit 21. Having spotted a Balearia sign on a closed dock gate I parked in a nearby underground carpark as I was very early. Having enjoyed an harbour cruise and a leisurely meal I was returning to the car but took the precaution of asking a Balaeria employee at the gate if I was in the right place only to be given a negative reply. On asking directions he indicated it was some miles away and difficult to find but to my delight he offered to get his van and lead me there: how is that for customer service! Crossing uneventful although I thought an hour to unload was excessive.
"Review return Barcelona - Palma"
Technically the journey was without issues. One could improve the following things: languagbe abilitiy of staff, cleanliness of toilets, quality of foof, waiting areas for passengers. By my opionion this is a ferry for lorry drivers, car passengers are just a bonus.
"Balearia Barcelona - Palma (return)"
The ship was clean and tidy and was on time but the restaurant closed 2 hours or so after leaving port - only a sandwich was available from the bar thereafter (this was out of season - March & may be different in full season) The company's booking system seemed antiquated - it took us at least 20 minutes to upgrade to a cabin (the ship was only perhaps one third full) and one Spanish couple occupied the only other check-in desk for at least 45 minutes before their problem was resolved, with their check-in girl feverishly telephoning & computering the whole time. The on-board staff were friendly but had limited English.
"Value for money"
You casn't complain about the value for money you get. Two beds in our 4 bed cabins were not made, the two we had booked were prepared though. Bathroom was very clean! All good, happily again!
"Without any problem to Majorca."
Large, modern ship with comfortable armchairs, because of the short crossing (7 hours)the cabin was superfluous. The chairs can be compared to business class on a plane. Power sockets for mobile phone and the laptop are in place. The food you have to warm-up yourself in the microwave. Otherwise: Hassle free crossing by car to and from Majorca ...
"Only if it has to be"
The ferry only had 111 passengers. We had booked first class and paid for this, only for everybody being able to take a seat wherever they wanted. There were a few big families with little children jumping around. Why did we pay more? Of the 6 toilets for woman only one was open and terribly dirty. The restaurant was only open for one hour and after that there was no possibility to buy anything, not even drinks. We have been on a lot of nice ferries, but Balearia never again if we can choose.
"Barcelona - Palma Mallorca ferry review"
Was really hard to find the Balearia desk as there was no signage at all! Almost missed the ferry which was a bit of a stressful start to my trip. Once on the ship all was fine fortunately.
