Launched in 1998, the Normandie Vitesse is a high-speed aluminium catamaran capable of carrying up to 718 passengers and 185 cars

Onboard Cabins / Reserved Seating

the Normandie Vitesse does not feature cabins due to the routes it serves however there are various types of seating areas to relax in. The Commodore class seating area provides comfortable seating in a reserved lounge with steward service, complementary beverages and newspapers whilst comfortable seating is also available in a standard reserved lounge.

Onboard Food and Drink

You'll find both a café, serving sandwiches, cakes, pastries and hot and cold drinks, and a bar offering everything from the finest French wines to cocktails. Both offer ample seating with great views, and are the perfect place in which to relax and enjoy time with your friends and fellow passengers as you speed across the channel.

Onboard Shopping

Perfect for gifts, souvenirs, or just a treat for yourself, the Normandie Vitesse shop offers a range of spirits, wine, tobacco, perfumes and cosmetics, leather goods, confectionery, toys, fashion, decoration, souvenirs, newspapers, games, cameras, sunglasses, jewellery and much more! All are at great prices, and certainly worth a browse. Purchases made onboard may be paid for in Euros or Sterling. Payment can be made in cash, by credit or debit card, or by cheque. Prices are shown in both currencies and you can combine different payment methods.

Additional Onboard Facilities

Additional facilities include a video Games room, an open viewing deck, baby changing room and a Bureau de Change.

Travelling with Children

There's a children's playroom on the main deck.

Accessibility

Passengers with limited mobility will find the facilities and access more challenging to negotiate because of the size and design of this vessel.

I have travelled the Portsmouth to Caen route several times, also Portsmouth to Le Havre, the check in is always quick and efficient and they get you and your vehicle stowed away pretty smoothly. I normally book a cabin and take the night crossing, that way you arrive fresh and ready for the remainder of your journey. The breakfast in the morning could be a lot better and more staff on duty at that time would eliviate the waiting. Other than that I've found Brittinay ferries to be safe, on time and efficient operators.
