"Overall OK, nothing more, nothing less"
Overall OK. We travelled overnight which I do recommend for a 12 hour voyage; at least you sleep for most of it. We took a cabin as travelled with dogs. You have to buy a Pet kit : poo bags, wee mat, wipes & treats. We ate on board at the buffet which was perfectly ok. All the facilities like the pool, spa, outdoor bars etc were closed but hard to say if they're ever open as they looked ' abandoned' . We were woken up by knocking on the doors by cleaniing crew who basically kick you out of your cabin a good 40-50 mins before you dock. Worst part was late leaving and over an hour late arriving so you have to hang about in the corridors or wherever you can find, with all your belongings ( & dogs in our case and many others), waiting to get back to your car, which happens at the last minute, after which it's a complete bun fight to get off the ship.
"A nightmare on the Mediterranean lake"
Grimaldi is a good company. Around a month ago, I traveled between Livorno and Olbia. The trip was quite pleasant, the boat was new, and it was freezing inside, but that's ok because the weather outside was too warm. This trip, between Porto Torres and Savona, was such a nightmare. The boat was warm and too little to host everyone, the smell inside was pretty bad, the facilities were outdated and bad and the boat was late. Which was fun because the crew woke us up two hours earlier to announce the imminence of the arrival, but we actually arrived two hours later.. what a coincidence? Not really because we were all forced to gather in the cafeteria (and having breakfast) meanwhile the crew started to clean the boat. It was awful, I will never do this trip again in my life. Plus the boat was very dirty
"Quite stressful "
Arrangements at arrival at Livorno chaotic with cars, bikes, Motorhome all ‘queuing’ at gate to get in. No system for registering on arrival. Loading by screaming staff who try to fit Motorhomes and cars in between huge pantechnicons. Cabins and beds comfortable but Door warped and difficult to close/open. Bathroom tired and rusty. Food availability spasmodic but breakfast was good. Disembarking was equally stressful at Palermo end. Not looking forward to next ferry with Grimaldi.
"Palermo - Loverno"
A great way to loose loads of miles and cost back from Sicily on the motorbike. Booked a 'sleeping chair' but didn't get much as everything rattles. However, a beautiful day and nice to sit on the deck under the sun. Not the best ship and the food in the restaurant was cold.
"Motorcycle trip to Sicily"
Biggest problem was finding the port in Livorno, as multiple roadworks defeated our SATNAV - very frustrating, but eventually followed a camper van who seemed to know where he was going!! Loading was quick and efficient, but "slot" allocated to m/cycles very narrow, and required backing out on arrival - not easy on a big tourer. The cabin was great and very comprehensive, the crossing smooth and the food excellent at a reasonable price. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Recommended crossing, but allow plenty of time to find the correct port!!
"Mediterranean Adventure"
This is a long journey that. I've wanted to do for ages Livorno to Palermo took ages. I made the mistake of not booking a cabin and tried unsuccessfully to sleep in an armchair - my fault. The Food was indifferent but the staff were very nice if dis organised. Reception kindly looked after my suitcase for me to save lugging it about.
"Wonderful cruise to Sardinia "
We cruised between Livorno and Olbia for holidays. First time for us. Everything went smooth and easy : Quick and efficient onboarding and disembarking, relaxing cruise. We enjoyed especially the swimming pool and the cabin on our way back (night trip).
"Palermo - Livorno "
Journey good. Food poor. Embarcation and disembarcation slow.
"Not recommended at all. "
All toilets were out of service. Shameful hygienic conditions.
"Did the job .....but only just"
The ferry did get us from Olbia to Livorno ...that is a positive. However ferry was over two hours late to arrive in Olbia ...once we finally got on board ....after 11.30 pm so tired went straight to room. Ferry was also 2 hours late docking in Pisa ....no explanation or apology was offered. I would have given no stars for punctuality if I could. The cabin was reasonable if a little shabby
"Best choice"
The cabin a little bit noisy about ship resonation, but perfect choice to this trip.
"catering"
the choice of meal (pulled pork) was not good. Apart from this the ship served our purpose of getting from Sardinia to Sicily.
"Crossing"
The journey was really good. The only bad thing was about the reserved seat, they are old and all ruin so that I preferred to stay on the deck.
"A lots of troubles"
No chances to get the boarding ticket and no indication on where to get it. Really long boarding times and underneath a really hot sun. The common area became a dormitory (even during the day) and all the seats where busy becouse of that.
"Milk"
I did not like only the milk at breakfast, the rest it's ok.
"Comfortable trip"
Our trip was comfortable and relaxing. The ship was old but the staff on board so nice and helpful. Really fast landing in Salerno.
"Good trip"
I spent nice time on board with friendly and helpfull crew. The only bad thing in the seats area was the temperature , max 15° and it was July. No one of the customer slept there. We all rest on the couches at the bar. I recommend this company.
"Good, clean, friendly and helpful staff "
The ship departed quite a bit later and I have reflected this in my rating below. However, it made up time and we did arrive on time so I want to make that clear.
"Nice trip"
Excellent trip. The embarkation was slow and not very organised (I guess it depends on the port)
"Travel by ferry from Salerno to Palermo"
The boarding was very fast.We have travelled with the inside cabin. The ferry and the cabin was clean. The ferry arrived very punctual to Palermo. We have not used the restaurant or the bar. Nobody touched our car during the crossing. We can recommend that operator , the price was really good comparing with another crossings to Naples. The only problem was the labguage barrier but I guess in all Italy is the same. We are family of two adults and two children. July 2015
"Excellent trip"
Punctuality. Cheap price. Kind staff. Cleaning and organization
"trip Tunis-Palermo"
I travel with Grimaldi 8-10 times a year especially with Zeus Palace ferry. Friendly staff, cabins always clean and tidy. It's a shame that it's full of people sleeping everywhere on the floor so you can't spend time at the bar. Food at the restaurant not the best one that you can have.
"nightmare trip"
departure 2hours late. People everywhere. I booked and paid for my reserved seats for anything because everyone could sit there, no one controlled. Really bad experience, never again
"trip Palermo/tunisi and return"
old ship but good services. Great restaurant on board and deperture on time. Too many people with deck space on the outbound route, everyone was sleeping and eating on the floor. They should offer more seats.
"thieves"
you are thieves and liars. Never again
"3 hours late and no informations"
I travelled with a 4 berth outside cabin for the route Salerno-Palermo on the 01/08/14. Bad organization at the check in and during the boarding because the port was very busy. The cabin was not very clean and the air conditioning too strong. Almost all the staff could speak only spanish and it doesn't make any sense for an italian route. We left the port at 2.30am on the 02/08 instead of 11pm of the day before and no one advised us. Tickets too expensive for this delay and this low service on board
"great way to go"
this is an excellent value and wonderful way to get to Sicily from Salerno. The trick is finding your way to the boarding area. I'd recommend a car service to take you. We booked a private room, which was clean and comfortable. This is a no frills cruise but since you leave at 11 pm and arrive at 9 am, it's a perfect way to get some sleep and travel between the two cities. Well worth it!
"ferry's experience"
the ferry it's very good as well as the customer service, but it was a shame to mix the people with different tradition wih other passengers, because they occupyed 3 or 4 places and change themselves in front of everybody, due to this you can't completely enjoy this spaces.
"Zeus"
I'm very satisfied with the excellent experience. Unforgettable! I hope i will repeat this happy choice in other opportunities, and recommend.
"Zeus Palace"
Our journey aboard Zeus Palace was perfect. Great service and friendly staff.
"Journey between Salerno and Palermo there and back "
We have a pleasant journey through the shipping company Grimaldi, between Salerno and Palermo . The cabin was clean, comfortable. the start in both directions has occurred with a 2-2.5 hour delay, although an email from the shipping company has informed us about an earlier departure. apart from the delay we were happy.
"A very good crossing"
A pleasant crossing with the family, a quick check-in, a good timekeeping, a very good cabin at the front of the boat, an helpful staff.
"Salerno-Palermo-Tunis 02 08 2013"
A 3h delay at boarding. No information was provided at the port of Salerno to people not having communication devices. The journey was ok overall.
"Salerno-Palermo-Tunis 25 08 2013"
A 6 h delay at boarding. The priority is given to the freight. The cars are goinf through two trucks and you have to suffer the smoke coming from them. We entered our cabin at 5am. No importance is given to hygiene. The food is bad and expensive. We arrived in Salerno on time.
"Minimal service"
At that price, you cannot complain. However, there are not enough toilets per floor and those toilets are not cleaned often enough. Some passengers really lack of manners, lay down on 4 seats instead of one, eat or smoke everywhere. Nothing is done about that. The crew only speaks Italian. Moreover it was 2 hours late for the outbound journey (ok) and 8h for the inbound journey. The meal was not good and very difficult to digest. I would recommend this ferry to a friend, if they are prepared to accept some inconvenients.
"Disembarkment of vehicles"
We're satisfied with the journey. The only negative point is that noone was there to help and guide the passengers with the disembarkement of vehicles. Also, there was no signposting indicating the exit.
"A great trip"
This was a great experience. The 9 hours literally flew by!
"assessment "
The departure from italy and from Tunisia were late
"Unnecessary chaos when embarking "
The ship was due to sail at 9:00 clock. Was not until 9:20 clock, began a single customs officer to check the baggage of the 150 travelers . As per passenger minimum of 2 pieces of laguage, including refrigerators, and home furnishings, took this procedure until 11:00 clock. The ship started the trip at 11:30. On the sun- and pool deck only 50 broken chairs were available for all passengers. Since all constructions were very dirty, the rest of the passengers had to stand or walk into the ship.
"Stopover in Palermo!"
Careful, the boat doesn't go to Salerno directly, it stops first in Palermo!!!
"Perfect service"
Service very classy. Pleasant and quiet on board. Staff available and elegant service.
"Tunisia"
The trip was pleasant and the staff was polite. Punctuality respected and cabins really comfortable. some difficulty at the time of booking by the procedure.
"Great travel solution"
Great trip and way to book tickets.
"Not too bad"
We travelled on the Zeus Palace on 31st August and again on 13th September 2012. Our cabin (number 6047) was in decent condition and all in all both for comfort of the beds and size, nothing to complain about. If i could make a criticism it would be about the air conditioning as was freezing cold, and a bit noisy, though sailing conditions weren't ideal in either direction. Certainly not a jewel of a ship and could do with a freshen up but better than a lot of ships in operation, and i have travelled on a few!
"Not as good as it used to be"
I deliberately chose this ferry to travel from Civitavecchia to Palermo because I travelled on this ferry many times to go to Greece and I always liked it. It seems to have gone down hill since it came to this route though and was not happy, especially when I think that I have paid the same price for a ticket to Greece and that the prices on board were expensive.
"zuess palace gnv"
Me and my partner decided instead of driving to rome we would put our car on zuess palace for the overnite run palermo cittavecchia. For about 200 euro we got 2 allocated airline seats and car after a italian queuing chaos on wharf we boarded ship and went to our worn out seats which being italy were already occupied there is no supervision on board so its basically survival of fittest , they moved with no drama. Signs everywhere no sleeping in lounges at all when I went in lounge at midnite people sleeping everywhere again no supervision . I told my partner there is a nightclub, restuarants, pool, etc - guess what nothing open except restuarants, which i might add were overpriced. There is no entertainment on this so called cruise ferry except for tv monitors showing non stop italian idol basically ferry with some cruise ship type lounges worn out in need of good clean inside and out staffed by indifferent italians
