Marmara Lines offered a seasonal ferry service between the Italian port of Ancona and the Turkish port of Cesme until 2010.

A long journey at 49 hours, travelling by ferry with Marmara Lines was the fastest route to Turkey by sea as well as being a low price and comfortable alternative to the arduous trip by land. The ferry journey also allowed you to avoid the multiple border clearance, compulsory visa and unsafe roads.

There is currently no direct replacement service between Italy and Turkey available however an alternative is to take a ferry from Italy to Greece, then island hop via Piraeus to Chios and then Cesme.
