What is there to do in Saboga Island?

Saboga Island is about as beautiful as you could imagine. Picture Hawaii before the modernisation symbolised by the upheaval of hotels and souvenir shops; the landscape is adorned by verdant tropical foliage and the coastline is graced by glorious golden sands adjacent to bright blue waters. Such is the island’s relative anonymity, even if you head there at the peak of summer the beaches will still be largely deserted; part of the exclusivity is due to its fairly difficult accessibility. There are no direct flights so it is only viable to reach by ferry from Panama City and locals are hoping it stays that way – the island is a paradise – and they want it to remain untouched. Most choose to pass the time by swimming in the refreshing waters; some resorts will hire snorkelling and diving equipment for anyone feeling adventurous. Others prefer to just rejoice in the beautiful surroundings and scorching weather to relax whilst topping up their tan. For a combination of tranquillity and adventure, cruises around the encompassing water offer breathtaking views of the mesmerising mountainside and the opportunity to take a dip to cool off.
