Playa Blanca Guide

The town of Playa Blanca ("White Beach") is located on the Spanish island of Lanzarote, which is one of the Canary Islands. It is the most southerly town on the island and is roughly 45 km from the island's airport. Playa Blanca has grown from a small fishing village to become Lanzarote's second most popular tourist destination. It stretches from just to the west of Papagayo beaches at Las Coloradas as far as Faro Park and the Faro de Pechiguera Lighthouse, with a coastal promenade. Apart from the centre of town, the resort is low density, comprising mostly of bungalow and villa developments, along with a few large luxury hotels.

The area around the town is a large 9 km wide bay which is broken up into three smaller bays. From east to west these bays are Playa Dorada, Playa Blanca and Playa Flamingo. The bays around Playa Blanca provide shelter which makes them perfect for swimming and relaxing on.

Ferry services operating from the town's small port depart to Fuerteventura, with a number of sailings each day.

Puerto del Rosario Guide

Puerto del Rosario is the capital of the Spanish island of Fuerteventura, which is one of the Canary Islands, and the town's name means Port of the Rosary. The town is where roughly half of the island's population live and really began to grow in the middle part of the 19th century when its harbour was an important factor in wealth being brought to the area. The town lies on the island's eastern coast and the central part of the town, away from the port, is where visitors will find many shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and hotels, many of which are located around Calle Leon y Castillo, which leads to the port, and the Avenida Juan de Betancourt. Things to do and see in this part of the island include the Casa Museo de Unamuno which is an interesting and popular museum. There is also the Casa de la Cultura which is a cultural centre that hosts regular exhibitions.

Ferry services from the town's port depart to Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Morro Jable.
