"Gatecrashed an Italian booze cruise "
It appeared we were one of the few passengers who was not on the Scuola Zoo young persons booze cruise to Kefalonia. Whilst this isn’t red star Ferries fault they are up singing and shouting until 330am and little seemed to be done about it by the staff. They had occupied all the seats with their large suitcases so nowhere to sit down. Anyway a lot of them looked pretty rough in the morning so that was somewhat gratifying. Fourth bed wasn’t made up with sheets but only realised when we pulled it down when going to bed. Bathroom was pretty tired but did the job. Left on time and arrived on time but pretty expensive for what you got. Did the job though.

"Late, Dated and Poor Service"
The ferry service boarded over 40 minutes late leaving us stranded on the side of a carpark at Brindisi Ferry Terminal. When we finally were allowed on-board we were held in the hold whilst cars were loading as the boat 'wasn't clean'. It was hot and filled with fumes. When we were finally allowed up to the passenger levels nearly an hour after the boat was meant to leave we had to lug heavy suitcases up two flights of narrow stairs as there were no luggage bays on the loading deck. The ferry then set off over 90 minutes late and took half an hour to get out of Brindisi harbour. The 'Bar' was open only for the first half hour and the final 45 minutes of the 5 hour journey so you could not get food or drinks and the whole ship was dated and in need of repair. At no point was there any explanation or apology for the delay and poor service. We arrived nearly 2 hours late.
"Extremely Disappointing"
Having originally booked my very first ever ferry crossing online for 2 adults and 1 dog, as I was not sure whether my pet would be allowed within a cabin with us, so I chose not to book one on my original booking. When contacting customer services and eventually having confirmed that all dogs were only allowed on deck and that they would be confined to kennels in the evening, I decided to go ahead with a cabin, as it was a night time crossing. Emails and phone calls proceeded over a course of time which, resulted in my being told that I would have to pay a 50% cancellation charge to then rebook with a cabin!!! My dismay and obvious grievance was understood, so I was then told that I could book on arrival in Brindisi without any admin charges. I had an email from customer services, confirming that they had requested a cabin for me on my booking, which I could pay for on arrival. This was by no means accurate as there were no available cabins, as everything was fully booked. Our sleeping arrangement were therefore confined to anywhere available on the floor or whilst seated in a chair. The ferry was extremely busy and people who had obviously travelled previously by this means, came equipped with blow up beds, sleeping bags, even pop up tents!! To say I was shocked was an understatement. Then to add insult to injury, dogs could come and go as they pleased!!! No confined kennels, they were accepted in all areas!! The canteen ran out of a selection of dishes, fairly early on. Only took cash. The standard of cleanliness throughout, was very poor. The staff were pleasant enough, but the chap on reception was completely unapproachable and lacked any empathy for our situation. An overall dreadful experience.
"Slow trip..."
I really waited for this moment a lot... I booked return ticket from Brindisi to Vlore. The first trip from Italy to Albania was alright. Quality of catering was good, staff competence as well. But, but, but... on the way back staff on reception wasnt competent at all. The ferry was late for hour and a half, asking the reception man whats going on, the answer was ‘ I dont know’...After going for second time I was told that we are waiting one more bus to get in, but the truth is that bus didnt show up, they were just waiting for more passengers probably. At the end after hour and a half delay, I missed my bus from Brindisi to Rome and meanwhile I was offered a trip to Rome by another bus driver, who was on the ferry, he asked me for 70 euros if I want to get on time for my flight... In one sentence those people they dont care if you have a transfer or if you miss it, as long as the ferry is full. At the end because I missed my bus from Brindisi to Rome, I missed my flight to UK, just due to the fact that this ferry was late for 1.5 hour...
"Much to improve"
Once you are on the ferry it is fine but before that the service is pittyful: changing anything on the internet is despite all promises not possible. Furthermore someone picks up the phone just to explain that changes are difficult and eventually you may get a confirmation which never arrived. The staff at the port is very friendly and helpful. Thanks to them we made it on the ferry. The ferry itself is fine but directferries offers truely bad and complicated services.
"Ferry from Brindisi to Vlore"
The ferry left 4 hours late. Boarding was disorganized, no direction from anyone. People were pushing and shoving to get through the gate. I’ve never seen anything like it before. There should be staff directing people and keeping it orderly. I’m surprised no one was hurt.
"Sail to Zakynthos"
We were on the last ferry out of Brindisi to Zakynthos on Sunday 3 September. It left 2 hrs late and no explanation given but we were in no rush so did not bother us. In fact we were the only 2 passengers! It was an enjoyable sail. Our cabin was a larger 4 berth (London) although we had only booked 2 berth one. It was basic and ensuite was a bit worn & dated however it was clean and served its purpose. Linen was fresh & clean too. The restaurant was not open which was hardly surprising since there was only 2 of us. We made do with snack from bar, croissants or sub roll with ham or salami & cheese, there were crisps too. The crew were very busy throughout the voyage cleaning & washing but this did not interfere with us being on the viewing decks. We would consider using this route again.
"Trip to Albania"
nothing
"The worse boarding facilities ever."
The boarding as a passenger at Brindisi was horrendous. it was a really hot day and after getting off the bus from Brindisi, there was no signs to show what to do. We then had a long walk to the terminus building to exchange our E-mail reservations for tickets and then needed to walk back to where we had been dropped by the bus. Even we then joined the queue at 1730 hrs, we then had to wait for nearly 2 hours in the baking sun. The sailing was ok.
