What is there to do in Salem?

Burdened by its infamous past, Salem has come to embrace its history of witch trials and fierce punishment; parades celebrating the notoriety have become fairly frequent and shops selling accessories line the streets. Though the tyranny will be forever etched in Salem’s DNA, the modern outlook exudes a wealthy, suburban population, exemplified by the Maritime National Historic Site. The centre of Salem’s most prominent landmark, Derby Wharf, was built by America’s first millionaire, Elias Hasket, symbolising the illustrious fame synonymous with the city. To distance itself from the negative history, a few art galleries, museums and fine restaurants have expanded Salem’s cultural appeal. The art scene has partially stolen some of the focus, attracting many visitors who have been tempted by the city’s growing reputation. After a day perusing the museums and art galleries, a few verdant parks grace the landscape, offering a relaxing atmosphere among beautiful scenery.

How do you get around Salem?

Segway tours have been made recently available in the past few years for a fun and adventurous way to travel around the city. Alternatively, many choose to travel by foot or, for the tired and weary, there are many taxis in operation.
