Seattle is like several cities in one, such is the diversity embedded into the bustling hub of art galleries, museums and impressive architecture. Copious attractions drench Seattle in a sea of history, culture and vitality, and Pike Place Market is the pinnacle of entertainment and interest. The market is a mecca of fresh food, where the local residents congregate to peruse the stalls and haggle for a bargain. Technology giants, Microsoft and Amazon, were born in the great city, inevitably creating a thriving business and entrepreneurial scene that is growing at an exponential rate. The myriad of offices and business complexes paint Seattle as a picture of logic and regiment, but that would do a disservice to the unassuming art scene which has sparked a fresh energy into the central areas. Chihuly Garden and Glass is a particular highlight, though just to walk around Seattle provides enough aesthetic stimulation, especially the Space Needle which has become the city’s most iconic landmark.

Friday Harbor Port belongs to the San Juan Islands, a small island group which lay at the very northwest corner of Washington State. The port is unique in the fact that it’s owned by the citizens of San Juan Island with the intention to provide water transportation for the residents of the area. Due to its simplistic setting, Friday Harbor Port has been used as the setting for a few films and TV shows, bringing some publicity to the area. Friday Harbor is generally used to connect passengers to mainland Washington, a crossing which runs several times per day. The marina at the port contains several retail outlets, restaurants and grocery stores, with famously friendly staff happy to provide information to visitors. There is also free Wi-Fi at the port, making it an ideal spot to relax before a departure. Passengers travelling by foot, bicycle and by car are all granted access to the vessel, with ample directions and instructions on offer around the marina for new visitors. There is paid parking near the ferry landing, and for those using public transport, bus services stop near the ferry terminal throughout the day.
