Masirah Island is the largest island belonging to Oman, laying off the east coast of the mainland. The ferry route departing from the port is the gateway to Oman, crossing to Shannah on the east coast and taking around an hour. The lack of viable accommodation in Masirah means that camping is the best way to experience the island. The conditions for finding a spot to pitch a tent are ideal; the rugged coastline in a peaceful environment are the reasons why many tourists head to Masirah.
