"Quick and easy but not peaceful"
On the outbound trip we had paid for the Stena Lounge €30quid when booked through direct ferries and if adding it on to a non flexi ticket they charge an amendment fee, nice of them so it came to €72.50. The offering isn't great and it was still £10 for a sandwich. The lounge is located next to the movie room which was full of kids that were part of a travelling football team, screaming, shouting and banging was the tone of the journey instead of the billed 'relax in comfort'. I felt staff could have made a better effort to sort this or to have the adults in charge of the kids called to get them in order. The lounge isn't worth the money, same price as an airport lounge with less offering and less comfort. The ship was delayed on the return journey with it being due in at 6pm but it was nearly 8pm when we docked and then had to queue outside for passport control. I am a regular ferry traveler but this time it wasn't as comfortable or as enjoyable as usual.
"Good Crossing"
Nice clean ship.
"Great Service"
Outstanding assistance as a wheel chair user. Couldn't fault the direction and help given. Thank you made my trip really easy.
"Dublin to holyhead"
Great experience
"Nice travel experience "
Had a very pleasant return trip with Stena Line on the Holyhead to Dublin route. Staff were very helpful and friendly and kind. The food was nice and serving size was just right.
"Bad bad bad"
This boat was very bad there was no plugs to charge your phone and lots of rubbish on boat the boat driver must have been having a party because he didn't know how to drive a oat
"Horrible Experience "
The return sailing from Holyhead Dublin, on Stenna Nordica is one I would never wish to take again. There was drug taking happening all over the ship with Cannabis Joints being openly prepared in public areas, the Bar, Restaurant, Cinema and even on the stairwell. I’m in no way exaggerating when I say that there were at least a couple of dozen different people preparing and smoking cannabis on the sailing, both inside and on the outside decking. Staff on board were doing absolutely nothing to prevent this happening. There was also a serious amount of shoplifting taking place in the duty free shop. I witnessed staff deal with a couple of people but, I witnessed several other thefts myself where staffeither didn’t notice or didn’t bother. I have been sailing between GB and Ireland, several times a year since childhood and this was the worst experience I’ve ever had on a ferry crossing. It was intimidating and scary. My young daughter had an a anxiety attack and I had to take her outside to the top decking, away from what was going on and we remained there, outside, for the remainder of the crossing. Not good enough, not even close !
"Excellent Service"
I had trip with Stena Line and It was amazing trip.
"Rowdy riders"
Although the trip was relatively smooth sailing, the lack of crowd control and supervision of children by their parents made for a stressful trip. Because the earlier ferry was cancelled, this route was packed. Parents were letting kids run wild, falling, and screaming.
"Sailing to and from Belfast"
The sailing on the way to Belfast was very busy as the ship was changed and not the one we were supposed on it was a good sailing but not enough seating for everyone the food was not the best. The ship on the way back was the Stena Superfast and we had booked the lounge this ship was very clean has adequate seating and enjoyed the return journey
"Dublin to Holyhead trip."
Comfortable trip. Was not crowded - Monday pm. Staff polite and helpful. Received a message in advance that the service was running 30 mins late; sadly departed even later but we were not personally inconvenienced.
"Good service "
Really efficient and good service
"Great service"
Easy online booking, hassle free check in and the price of the ticket included lunch. What more could you ask for.
"Trip to Dublin"
My ferry times that I booked were cancelled, luckily Stenaline were as good as gold with information. Nothing From Ferries direct. I think I will book direct with the ferry co next time
"could be better "
from Dublin to Holyhead was great unfortunately on the way back we were on a replacement ferry and it wasnt good . the toilets had not been cleaned , but i didnt see someone go in later to clean them the lounge room smelt of cigarettes though the bar was clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly
"Waterford trip"
Long time since I last drove to Ireland. But not so bad, very efficient service, the only boarding on miserable person was the barman in the bow very grumpy 😠 thought he was just having a bad day on way out. Seems he had another on way back 😃
"Ferry trip to Ireland"
Trip was comfortable, but to small many people were looking for a place to sit, the Stena Europe was more spacious, people were queueing at the bar, the shop was very poor compared to the Stena Europe.
"ferry service to eire"
exceptional service from on line booking to the performance from the line during our travels
"Not cheap. Too many operators with identical pricing all stating "Cheap" fares."
On the outboard sailing my wife had her bag lifted just before docking in Rosslare. Fortunately whatever lowlife lifted the bag didn't have time to fully check contents as bag was found by a passenger and handed in to the purser very soon after it went missing with thankfully nothing taken. TIP - Keep your valuables very close to your person! Liked the clear safety instructions from the captain. Would like to see some real discounts when advanced booking. Could have joined the caravan club which would have saved circa £50 but joining would have also have been £50. Certainly worthwhile joining the CC if more than one crossing is taken per year.
"Comfortable"
Great cabin. Punctual. And its great to have the flexi option.
"Pembroke to rosslare"
Not the best experience
"Direct Ferries never added my partner to booking"
I originally booked a trip for just myself but the day before I added my partner- I received an email confirmation from Direct Ferries to say she had been added to the itinerary and a message to say the extra traveller fee had been debited from my account. Next day I arrived at Fishguard ahead of the 13.10 sailing to discover that Direct Ferries hadn’t actually added my partner to the trip. Despite being kept on hold for 25 minutes by a DF customer service rep who eventually assured me their mistake had been rectified, Stena Line wouldn’t let my partner travel because the sailing was already over booked. We ended up travelling on the 23.45 boat later that night. An absolute shambles by Direct Ferries who never offered an apology for their terrible mistake, never mind compensation for abandoning my partner and I in Fishguard.
"Quick ticket"
While Stenaline sold us a big NO because every ferry would have been sold out for the same eveving and more than three days, Directline gave us immediate a ticket for the first ferry! Thank you very much! This differs us three days!
"Rosslare to Fishguard"
The check-in and boarding process was quick and simple. The crew were very polite and helpful and the journey was a pleasure.
"A bit expensive"
It was a very nice trip, very comfortable, my husbands food wasent nice the hamburger wasent cooked properly.Aldo I think £76 to change the time of our crossing was a bit expensive seeing it wasent overbooked.
"Very good"
One more duty free shop would be great :) otherwise for trip of 3 hours there is everything to enjoy journey.
"Rosslaire to Fishgard"
Happy with everything
"Great! 2 small spoilers"
The online booking process could not have been easier. On my return trip, I felt two little "dampners" bothered, but I could have just been tired. I found the tone at check in a little too snappy despite no queue or time pressures. Food was excellent and fairly priced at sea, however a small cup of tea @ €2.5 seemed a misplaced profit area. ( price for a small pot as a thirst quencher..too picky?) Uniformed staff were fantastic, professional and welcoming. Really commendable! Thank you.
"Ireland trip"
Staff and crossing was great, the only down side was the lasagna served at dinner time was tepid, the food should have been hotter for service, should be 65 degrees this certainly was not
"Problem-free trip."
No problems with booking, boarding or disembarking. Just fine.
"Recent trip to Ireland "
Travelled by motorbike. On and off was fast and efficient, and on both journeys a staff member secured my bike for me. Fantastic as I always struggle with doing that myself. Ferry was clean and comfortable. I had a hot meal going and just a sandwich and coffee on the return trip. Not great but OK and reasonably priced. Looking forward to my next trip. Many thanks. Jeff
"Excellent "
Went for the premium level, excellent staff friendly very helpful, no delays very efficient great experience would recommend to family and friends
"Great trip"
It was great, an enjoyable trip, reasonable price too.
"Easy to cross from Wales to Ireland"
Our trip from Fishguard to Rosslare was easy and comfortable with no worries.
"Trip to Ireland for a wedding"
We booked the 13.10 out and the 8am return. The sailing booking, instructions and car loading were all very efficient. We booked a 4 berth cabin both ways which was excellent. We had coffee/tea and did a little shopping. The crossings were very stable and the staff friendly.
"Fantastic "
Was a great trip. Recommend the little upgrades like priority boarding if you have a car and access to the lounge.
"Rosslare to Fishguard Stena crossing"
Great facilities, no issues at all and staff very helpful, many thanks.
"Great first experience"
Comfortable, clean easy ferry crossing. Left a later than expected both there and return but still got to destination bang on time. Can't comment on the quality of catering but everyone was purchasing it and portion sizes looked generous. Would definitely travel with you again.
"Ferry Impressed"
Whilst the ferry was smaller as the main one was being remitted, it was fine. Although we departed late, and the initial crossing was a bit rough, we arrived earlier than scheduled. The staff were very helpful. The text sent en route route giving departure details was useful.
"Recent Trip"
Awful trip, toilets were disgustingly dirty and food over priced and cold
"Excellent Service by Stena Line"
A fantastic service operated by Stena Line between Fishguard and Rosslare. The staff at both ports were friendly and helpful. The Fishguard cafe was clean and reasonably priced. On board the crew were helpful, the basic facilities were considerably better than you would receive on Channel crossing ferries and the customns staff were helpful. Highly recommended way the visit Southern Ireland.
"Irish Rover"
Voyage went well no issues relating to ship.
"Fantastic staff, location, and room"
I had a great trip. The staff who checked me in at Travemunde were cheerful, polite, and knowledgeable. The men who helped me park my motorbike and who strapped it down were especially skilled, professional, and polite. The cafeteria staff as well were beyond expectations! I was so happy with my experience!
"Stena line."
Good service in general.
"Lovely 28 hours"
Journey was lovely as the weather was very calm, I didn't realize in most cases that I am on the ship. Food was not very good and the choise of it was limited. Bar offered pretty good coffee and drinks, thanks to the bartender. Place was clean and well maintained. I enjoyed the trip. Thanks
"cold food"
Apart from the cold food on the outward journey I had a pleasant trip. Their was a marginal improvement on the return trip but there is still massive room for improvement. Oh, and you will get cheaper coffee in Monte Carlo than on board ship, and it is more expensive in the bar than the restaurant.
"Amazing"
Absolutelly great experience, stuff was very caring.
"Liverpool - Befast Ferry"
Very good service, comfortable cabin and would definately use the same service again
"Dublin Trip"
Very good all round service.
"OUR FERRY TRIP TO DUBLIN"
Our transport to Dublin was a tale with too halves! We have not travelled by ferry for a number of years and we were very impressed on our way out to Dublin. We had upgrade to the Stena Plus Lounge and we were so pleased we did. The service was excellent and the snacks, drink and menu on offer were very good but the most pleasant thing was the surroundings - the seating, space and location of the lounge was outstanding, the crossing was very choppy but the comfortable seating area really helped to relax and enjoy the journey. Coming back was not quite the same! The lounge on the return, was old, cramped and uncomfortable. The seating area was laid out so most people had to sit looking at strangers. Some areas were reserved - obviously people had experienced this ferry before and did not want to go through the trauma of not being able to find a suitable seat again! The service, snacks and drink were still OK but we were so surprised how two ferries could be so different when supplied by the same company.
"Pleasant crossing"
The return trips were pleasant. I thought it unusual that only the outward journey to Ireland had a security check for luggage. I arrived slightly late to embark at Holyhead but was rushed through in an efficient manner. The ships facilities on both journeys were good. Decent films to view. Internet access was so slow that I couldn't use my iPad. However both journeys were very comfortable and on time.
"STENA SUPREME WITH DIRECT FERRIES"
If you're shopping around for a decent price ferry from the UK to Ireland - look no further than Stena Line and I cannot possibly think you'd find a more economical route elsewhere. I've been travelling to Ireland to fish an annual competition every year for nearly thirty years now and have to say I'd be extremely surprised if you found a better price anywhere than what Direct Ferries organised for me. I've just been given the dates for next years competition and my first port of call - "Direct Ferries".
"Not Bad"
Please bear in mind that this trip was at 0130hrs. Booking in, once lane open, very efficient. Loading seemed well organised and quick, staff on the ball. Cabin clean and pleasant. Customer service desk helpful and very polite. Food limited to Breakfast meals due to the hour but staff helpful. Shop not open during the crossing which was a pain. Disembarkation quick and well organised. Overall a pleasant and seamless crossing.
"Nights not for me"
Went over with Stena Holyhead to Dublin overnight. Bodies all over seats, loo facilities dirty, very unpleasant. Came back in the afternoon - clean and plenty of seats
"All fine"
We had not used a car ferry for a while and found our journeys similar to previous trips. Both ferries were clean, boarding was well organised and we enjoyed watching' The Lego Movie' very much. Booking was simple and efficient. We also had calm seas, but I don't think Stena were responsible!! We had hoped to eat on the ferry on the way back but the choice was very limited so we didn't.
"dublin line"
Premium plus was very useful
"Smooth and comfortable"
Was straightforward to get on, clear where we needed to be, good service and a smooth journey. We had a meal on the return journey and it was lovely.
"Enjoyed trip"
The Fery journey was an excellent experience, we paid a little extra for premium, and I believe it was worth it.
"Our trip to Dublin and back, with Stena."
Our trip to Ireland was easily booked through directferries.com.uk . We travelled from Holyhead to Dublin, with our motor home. Our ferry was the Stena Adventurer. The check in was easy, we were soon on board. The ferry was like a floating hotel. We had breakfast on board, the watched a film. The crossing was smooth, within 3hr 15mins we were pulling into the port of Dublin. Our return trip was on the Stena Nordica. Once again check in was easy, we were soon on the ferry. This time we and a coffee and relaxed. The seating is very comfortable. We were soon in Holyhead. Thank you Stena for a wonderful travel experience. And thank you directferries.co.uk, for making my booking so easy. I recommend directferries.com.uk . I also recommend the Stena Line. Both will be used by me again, soon.
"Outstanding service!!!!!!!"
Help very single step. First time take ferry, what a pleasure surprise. Easy booking on line with Direct Ferry. The ticket I booked was shown as non-refundable, however we was late when we arrive at Holyhead port, the Stena Line ticket office staff are very kindly changed the ticket for us. When we get on the ferry, it is very smooth, there are cabin you can buy on board. Single 20 pound, double 30 pound and 4 person 50 pound. Nice room with shower and desk. Food on board is very hearty meal plenty full plate with very good price. Over all, very very happy with the whole experience.
"Very good"
Top quality. Would thoroughly recommend. Excellent staff and facilities. Thanks
"Very good"
Top quality. Would thoroughly recommend. Excellent staff and facilities. Thanks
"Good ships, food variable"
This was a quick and comfortable crossing. On the way out it was quite quiet (the Adventurer), but the food was very poor. The Nordica, on the other hand, had excellent food and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff - the downside for me was the difficulty of getting away from TV's showing sport, which were everywhere.
"Paulina"
Excellent! Great staff, friendly, helpful all time.
"A very good crossing"
The boat left and arrived on time. It was confortable, clean and well equiped. The lounge was spacious with confortable seats. The staff was cheerful and helpful. I'd happilly travel with Stena Line again.
"How to get to Ireland without stress!"
On both trips I would like to commend the efficiency of the checking & boarding crews. STENA ADVENTURER: The journey would have been fine apart from the behaviour of a number of the passengers. It was unfortunate that I happened to have booked the same ferry as many Liverpool etc. supporters for the Liverpool-Celtic 'friendly' in Dublin. Many were drinking (alcohol) for some 4 hours from boarding to alighting, some clearly being over-intoxicated. This was unpleasant, together with the wholesale saving of large quantities of seats by one person for absent passengers and men stretched out with footwear on other seats, thus making it difficult to be seated. Both ships tended to be too warm inside. STENA NORDICA was much pleasanter, adequate seating, but meal though plentiful was a bit heavy. I wish both ships could sail a little faster though. Comfortable sea-crossings. I will book again, especially because of ease of manoeuvring car on and off.
"Ferry Trip "
Thank you we enjoyed our trip with Stena Line Ferries. We booked on line which was easy, and this time we booked a cabin which was very clean and comfortable. As we had booked the cabin we were in the premium lane for boarding so more or less first on and off. The staff were always polite and helpful too. Well done.
"Just as you want it. "
Punctual, friendly and reasonably priced. Recommended.
"Recent sea crossing"
Following a gap of many years we decided to take our own car to Ireland to visit family an friends. We were very pleased to find that all the it was very easy to do, from the booking on line, the road journey, to the speed and efficiency of the port staff in getting the ferries loaded. On board we were impressed by the comfortable seating space and the facilities provided, we would have liked to sit outside but found that the seating area provided for this was not all that comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and efficient, we would use Stena Line again.
"Great service"
We had 2 very good crossings from Holyhead to Dublin Port and back again, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had our main meal on the ship, and the Family Meal Deal made eating very good value. The food was excellent.
