"Genoa to Porto Torres Round Trip"
This was our second trip to Sardinia with Tirrenia, and we enjoyed it as much as we did we did the first time. The Check-in, Security Clearance and Boarding processes are fairly straightforward, and like an airpot require some patience as it takes some time to load hundreds of cars and passengers onto a ship.
Once onboard, the Officers and Crew are VERY Courteous and helpful, and speak enough English to offer assistance. We always book a cabin so we can sleep on the 12 hour journey and have a private toilet and shower. The cabins are quiet, roomy, clean, well-equipped with towels and linens and the bunks offer a comfortable night's sleep. Many passengers book a reclining sleeper seat, or set up camp on the deck.
The self-service cafeteria offers good food, although a bit pricey, and has a number of window tables from which to enjoy the view. A Real Treat is the morning Breakfast Bar, at which you can order Delicious Italian Coffee, Croissants, and Fresh-Squeezed Orange Juice. There is a children's playroom, card room, bar, big screen Italian TV. Internet is slow, we bring books or our own movies to watch.
In general, the ship is clean, tidy, and well-maintained. It normally leaves and arrives close to on-time, but the debarkation process is time-consuming and often takes close to an hour after arrival, depending on which deck you are parked on.
